Morning sickness is a common symptom of early pregnancy usually in first trimester.It can happen anytime in the day.It is caused by changes in hormones during pregnancy and may make eating difficult.It is not dangerous for the baby and sometimes needs treatment , which is safe in pregnancy.



It is caused by an increased oestrogen levels and high levels of human gonadotropic hormone. Some nutritional deficiency especially of B6 and B1 has also been implicated . Since, hormones in pregnancy cause relaxation of the sphincters in bowel, the relaxation causes  reflux and nausea.


Eat smaller meals and avoid large drinks. Limiting fatty, spicy and fried foods helps and sometimes eating a dry biscuit prior to getting up from bed in the morning.Avoid foods if their taste, smell or appearance makes you sick.
