PRE PREGNANCY CARE
It is important to prepare for pregnancy to ensure that optimal health is achieved.
Screening for infections identifies the need for possible vaccinations for Rubella and chicken pox, Hepatitis B or treatment for Chlamydia, Syphilis--maximising multidisciplinary care for identified problems.
If you are planning a pregnancy, it is wise to have a general pre-pregnancy assessment with your GP , including a pap smear which might be due. If need be, then further care can be arranged and health maximised to ensure that your pregnancy outcome is ideal.
Routine investigations include HIV, Hepatitis B & C , Rubella, Varicella, TFT , pap smear , blood group and antibodies.
